EM – On the morning of October 29, 2022, the signing ceremony of a memorandum of understanding on training cooperation between Hanoi High-Tech Vocational College, Skills Consulting Group and International Vocational Training Joint Stock Company on the establishment of Vietnam – New Zealand Training Cooperation Center took place in Hanoi. This event opens up opportunities for deep and wide cooperation in specialized technical training in the elevator and escalator industry.
Attending the cooperation signing ceremony were Mr. Pham Xuan Khanh, Chairman of the Council of Hanoi High-Tech Vocational College (HHT), Ms. Bridget Dennis Senior Vice President Global Markets of Skills Consulting Group; Mr. Tran Nam Giang, Director of International Vocational Training Joint Stock Company.
Witnessing the signing ceremony were Ms. Tredene Dobson, New Zealand Ambassador to Vietnam; Mr. Le Duy Duc, Head of Trade Development Department, New Zealand Embassy in Vietnam; Ms. Lisa Futscheck, General Director of International Education, New Zealand; Mr. Ben Burrowes, Education Director for Asia, New Zealand; Mr. Jim So, Regional Development Manager, Asia, New Zealand Embassy in Vietnam.
On the Vietnamese side, there were Dr. Nguyen Duc Hanh, Director of Vietnam Institute of Lift Engineering Application – VILEA (under the Vietnam Elevator Association – VNEA); Mr. Pham Vu Quoc Binh, Deputy Director of the General Department of Vocational Education, Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs; Mr. Nguyen Hong Dan, Deputy Director of Hanoi Department of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs; Mr. Tran Xuan Ngoc, Vice President of Hanoi High-Tech Vocational College.
The main content of the memorandum of understanding is that the Skills Consulting Group organization supports the Hanoi High-Tech Vocational College to develop a vocational training program for Elevator and Escalator Technicians; vocational training in high-tech agriculture and animal husbandry; establishing a joint office between Hanoi High-Tech Vocational College, Skills Consulting Group; supporting training programs in Industrial Electrical, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning. After graduation, students will take students to New Zealand to continue their training with the goal of obtaining vocational skills certificates and job placement in the host country.
International Vocational Training Joint Stock Company (IVT) will support and provide information to students to complete the necessary documentation and certification procedures, and train students in soft skills before going to college. New Zealand as well as partnering with Skill Consulting Group to help students transition to live and work in New Zealand.
Previously, on the afternoon of October 28, 2022, Director of the Institute of Elevator Application Engineering – VILEA (under the Vietnam Elevator Association – VNEA), Dr. Nguyen Duc Hanh worked with representatives of HHT University and university. Representative of Skill Consulting Group to discuss training for elevator industry.
At the meeting, the representative of Skill Consulting Group made a proposal to build a program framework like the one they have successfully implemented in Hong Kong. Skill Consulting Group hopes that elevator and escalator companies in Vietnam will accompany to coordinate implementation.
Dr. Nguyen Duc Hanh shared that in Vietnam, elevator human resources do not have a specialized training program. Therefore, it is necessary to cooperate with HHT schools to develop common standards and training programs. This helps graduates quickly integrate into the working environment.
Regarding international cooperation in the field of elevators and escalators, during a recent visit to Korea, the Vietnam Elevator Association promoted and stepped up coordination with the Korea Elevator Safety Agency (KoELSA) and a number of elevator colleges in Korea to plan to build training programs for elevator technicians not only to meet domestic demand but also to export expert in international market.
