1. Regional Customs Department V Collects Over 43 Billion VND in Revenue from Post-Clearance Audit

According to statistics from the Regional Customs Department V (which manages the areas of Bac Ninh and Thai Nguyen provinces), as of September 14, the unit has issued decisions and conducted 57 post-clearance audits, including 21 audits at customs offices and 36 audits at enterprise premises.

Of these, 4 audits were conducted under plans assigned by the General Department of Customs regarding compliance with customs law by customs declarants); 39 audits were conducted under the Department's plans based on risk management application;

1 specialized audit of enterprises importing animal feed under Official Letter No. 35027/CHQ-KTSTQ dated November 11, 2025; 1 audit under inspection conclusion (No. 575/KL-CHQ dated January 7, 2026 of the General Department of Customs); 12 audits at customs offices for customs dossiers within 60 days from the date of clearance to the date of issuing the audit decision.

As a result, as of September 14, the Regional Customs Department V has collected over 43.41 billion VND in revenue through post-clearance audit. At the same time, it has remitted 14,914 billion VND to the budget, reaching 92% of the assigned legal target (16,200 billion VND) and equaling 131% compared to the same period in 2025.

2. Hanoi: Man's Hand Crushed by Elevator

According to information released by the National Hospital for Tropical Diseases (Hanoi) on September 21, 2026, the Department of Plastic, Aesthetic and Interdisciplinary Surgery performed emergency surgery on a 59-year-old man (from Nghe An, working as a motorbike taxi driver in Hanoi) who suffered a serious accident.

At around 12:00 on September 12, 2026, while working, the patient's hand was unfortunately caught between the floor and the elevator system.

1. United Nations Re-inspects Escalators Ahead of High-Level Week

United Nations spokesperson Stéphane Dujarric said the escalators at the organization's headquarters in New York have been "checked and re-checked many times" before world leaders attend the high-level session on September 22, according to Bloomberg.

The inspection was carried out to avoid a repeat of the incident at the 2025 session, when an escalator stopped just as U.S. President Donald Trump and his wife stepped on, leading to disputes over the cause. The United Nations has not announced any new faults found with the equipment during this year's inspection.

2. India: Man Trapped Between Cabin and Old Elevator Shaft

A 40-year-old man was seriously injured at a three-story building in Moosapet, Hyderabad. When he stepped out on the second floor, the elevator was called up to the third floor and his leg became caught in the mesh section of the old equipment.

Officials said the victim's leg was severely crushed. The rescue operation lasted 1.5 hours, encountering many difficulties because he was trapped between the second and third floors, hanging suspended below the elevator.
