1. Expanded social housing program opens up development room for the elevator industry
Citing data from the Ministry of Construction, by the end of July 2026, the whole country had 875 social housing projects, totaling 773,457 units; of which 270,409 units are under construction.
If applying the minimum rate of one elevator per 70 units according to QCVN 04:2021/BXD, the target of 973,471 units for the 2026–2030 period corresponds to a preliminary scale of approximately 13,907 elevators.

2. Hanoi to seek broad public input on the Red River urban subdivision plan
In order to promote the people's right to mastery, to be receptive to opinions from all segments of the population and to improve the quality of the planning project, Hanoi City will organize a broad consultation on the formulation of the Overall Adjustment of the Red River Urban Subdivision Plan, scale 1/5000 (section from Hong Ha Bridge to Me So Bridge).
According to Plan No. 176/KH-SXD dated September 5, 2026 of the Hanoi Department of Construction, the consultation will be carried out in two phases: consultation during the planning formulation phase (organized by the Architectural Planning Project Management Board) and consultation during the planning appraisal phase (led by the Department of Construction).
It is expected that the planning dossier will be officially published from September 7, 2026. The public consultation period will last for 20 days from the date the content is posted and made public. This process will be implemented synchronously through 4 phases, from the preparation of shared data documents, the announcement of the consultation, the intensification of the information peak, to the synthesis, explanation and public disclosure of the feedback results.
This consultation is aimed at all segments of the capital's population, agencies, organizations, experts, scientists and businesses. In particular, communication and consultation efforts will focus with priority on households and individuals directly affected by the project in 24 communes and wards.
These include 16 localities within the planning boundary such as: Thuong Cat, Dong Ngac, Phu Thuong, Hong Ha, Bo De, Long Bien, Linh Nam, Bat Trang, Thanh Tri, Me Linh... and 8 localities in the affected area such as Tay Ho, Hoan Kiem, Cua Nam, Hai Ba Trung, Vinh Tuy, Vinh Hung, Yen So, Yen Lang.

1. China: Wuhu tightens oversight of low-cost elevator maintenance
The market regulatory authority of Wuhu City has launched a comprehensive review of elevator maintenance units, focusing on low-price competition that erodes service quality.
The inspection content includes the authenticity of maintenance records, personnel competence and certificates, hazard handling and the rate of entrapment incidents. The regulatory authority requires the establishment of three lists covering entities, risks and remediation progress; violations are managed by list and files are only closed after repairs are completed. The inspection results and specific penalties have not yet been announced.
2. India: L.T. Elevator revenue up 97%, expands home elevators
L.T. Elevator reported consolidated revenue of 111.3 crore rupees (approximately 1.113 billion rupees) for fiscal year 2026, up 97%; net profit reached approximately 17 crore rupees. The company currently operates in three groups comprising commercial elevators, Ricardo home elevators and automated parking systems.
According to the company, Ricardo achieved an annualized order value of approximately 100 crore rupees. The new factory in West Bengal is targeted to reach a capacity of 2,500 elevators per year upon completion in the fourth quarter of fiscal year 2027. The figures on capacity and business outlook remain management's plans.
3. Indonesia halts all elevators and escalators at TransJakarta stops due to volcanic ash
Indonesia's TransJakarta public transport system announced the suspension of elevator and escalator operations at all stops after ash from the Anak Krakatau volcano spread to Jakarta.
The measure aims to prevent ash dust from infiltrating and damaging mechanical components and electronic sensors. Bus services continue to operate; staff are stationed at stairways to assist people with disabilities, the elderly and priority passengers.
Before putting the equipment back into operation, the operator will carry out cleaning and technical assessment. The incident shows that harsh environmental conditions need to be taken into account in the maintenance and re-commissioning process for equipment.
