Officially seeking comments on the Draft of the new National Standard on elevator maintenance.

TCTM – The National Committee for Standards, Metrology and Quality is seeking comments from agencies, organizations, and experts on the Draft TCVN Elevators - General requirements for operation, maintenance, repair, and use. The comment period extends until 12/10/2026.

Recently, the National Standards, Metrology and Quality Committee issued Official Dispatch No. 3137/TĐC-TC regarding soliciting feedback on the Draft National Standard - TCVN Lifts - General requirements for operation, maintenance, repair and use.

In implementation of Decision No. 3058/QĐ-BKHCN dated October 6, 2025, on approving the supplementary plan for developing national standards (TCVN) of the Ministry of Science and Technology in 2025, the Technical Committee TCVN/TC 178 Lifts, escalators and passenger conveyors was assigned to develop 01 Draft TCVN Lifts - General requirements for operation, maintenance, repair and use.

The Draft TCVN and the Explanatory Report are posted on the national database on standards, metrology and quality at: https://nqi.gov.vn/tieu-chuan/xay-dung

According to the explanatory report, the draft stipulates requirements to ensure safety in the management, operation, maintenance and repair of lifts; planning for major repairs and modernization based on equipment condition.

Some notable contents being proposed in the draft include assigning an identification code to newly installed lifts for information traceability and equipment records, serving management, use, maintenance and repair work.

The draft also sets out requirements on the qualifications of operating personnel, operation organization specialists, maintenance personnel and maintenance and repair organization specialists for lifts.

In addition to the main provisions, the draft is accompanied by appendices on: Maintenance procedures and report templates; Recommended service life of rapidly wearing equipment; Recommended service life of major equipment...

The Official Dispatch was sent to 22 agencies, organizations and enterprises, including the Department of Employment (Ministry of Home Affairs); the Safety Technical Inspection Center Region I (Ministry of Home Affairs); the Departments of Construction of Hanoi City and Ho Chi Minh City; the Departments of Science and Technology of Hanoi City and Ho Chi Minh City; training institutions; inspection, testing and certification organizations; the Vietnam Elevator Association, and a number of enterprises operating in the elevator sector.

Feedback should be sent to the National Standards, Metrology and Quality Committee (via the Vietnam Standards and Quality Institute, Building A, No. 8 Hoang Quoc Viet Street, Nghia Do Ward, Hanoi City) before October 12, 2026.
