Recently, the National Commission for Standards, Metrology and Quality issued Official Letter No. 3137/TĐC-TC soliciting comments on the Draft National Standard - TCVN Elevators - General requirements for operation, maintenance, repair and use.
Implementing Decision No. 3058/QĐ-BKHCN dated October 6, 2025 on approving the supplementary national standard (TCVN) development plan of the Ministry of Science and Technology for 2025, under which the Technical Committee TCVN/TC 178 Elevators, escalators and passenger conveyors was assigned to develop 01 Draft TCVN Elevators - General requirements for operation, maintenance, repair and use.
The Draft TCVN and the Explanatory Note are posted on the National Database on Standards, Metrology and Quality at: https://nqi.gov.vn/tieu-chuan/xay-dung
According to the explanatory note, the draft specifies requirements to ensure safety during the management, operation, maintenance and repair of elevators.
Some notable contents proposed in the draft include attaching identification codes to newly installed elevators for information retrieval and equipment records serving management, use, maintenance and repair; and establishing plans for major repairs and modernization based on equipment condition.
The draft also sets out qualification requirements for operating personnel, operation organization specialists, maintenance personnel and specialists in organizing elevator maintenance and repair.

The official letter was sent to 22 agencies, organizations and enterprises such as the Department of Employment, Ministry of Home Affairs; Regional Technical Safety Inspection Center I (Ministry of Home Affairs); Departments of Construction of Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City; Departments of Science and Technology of Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City; along with training institutions; inspection, testing and certification organizations; the Vietnam Elevator Association and a number of enterprises operating in the elevator sector.
Written comments should be sent to the National Commission for Standards, Metrology and Quality (via the Vietnam Institute of Standards and Quality, Building A, No. 8 Hoang Quoc Viet Street, Nghia Do Ward, Hanoi City) before October 12, 2026.
