Scene of the incident
Eyewitnesses at the site reported that early in the morning, the homeowner (the victim) returned from breakfast and began painting the elevator frame and cleaning the pit area. During this time, the elevator car descended unexpectedly and fatally crushed him.

At around 7:30 a.m., a stone cladding worker arrived at the site and noticed a fan running and blowing air into the elevator shaft, but saw no one nearby. He then approached to take a closer look and discovered the victim crushed beneath the elevator in the pit. He immediately raised the alarm. At the time of the incident, no representatives from the elevator installation company were present.
Authorities are currently investigating the cause of the accident. Elevator Magazine will continue to follow and update this story in subsequent reports.
This tragedy once again raises alarms about safety practices during elevator installation and construction, especially at private residences and renovation projects.
In response to the growing number of elevator-related incidents in recent times, the Vietnam Elevator Association is coordinating with the Fire and Rescue Police Department to strengthen the operations of the Elevator Emergency Response Center. The Center is also actively involved in training programs focused on elevator rescue operations.
The Center will function as a rapid response unit, providing technical support and on-site rescue in elevator-related emergencies. In addition, the Association is calling on industry enterprises to voluntarily participate in building a professional, effective support network to enhance public safety.
