1. Ho Chi Minh City: 6 Fire Prevention and Fighting officers rescue person trapped in elevator

On September 8, the Fire Prevention and Fighting and Rescue Police Department (PC07, Ho Chi Minh City Police) reported that the Fire Fighting and Rescue Team for Area 5 had just successfully rescued a young man trapped in an elevator at a 5-story house in An Dong ward.

2. Proposal for Customs to conduct specialized inspections at border gates

On the afternoon of September 7, the Customs Department held a meeting to evaluate the results of work in August and deploy the Work Program for September 2026. Director Nguyen Van Tho chaired the meeting.

The Customs Department reported that the Ministry of Finance has reported to the Prime Minister on the development of a Project on unified management of specialized inspection activities for imported and exported goods and vehicles entering and exiting at border gates.

1. South Korea: Gwangju tests AI safety monitoring in elevator cabins

Gwangju Metropolitan Railway is collaborating with the Korea Elevator Safety Agency to pilot an AI-based elevator safety management system at Sangmu Station. The system analyzes camera images inside the cabin in real time to detect passengers falling or abnormal situations, then sends alerts to operating staff.

2. Russia: METEOR Lift begins domestic production of elevator drives

METEOR Lift, the enterprise that took over Otis's operations in Russia, has begun producing elevator drives at its factory in Saint Petersburg. The production line is designed with a capacity of approximately 20,000 units per year, including four types of drives for elevators with load capacities of 400, 450, 630, and 1,000 kg, at speeds from 1 to 1.75 m/s.

The development process began after a support program from the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade in 2022; the preliminary design was completed in June 2024. This is an important step in localizing control components amid supply chain disruptions.
