Just for the passion of a beautiful home

It’s been almost 2 years since we moved into our new house, the dream house that according to my wife happily commented, 9/10 points according to her “criteria”. It was true that the house had the features we asked for when we asked the realtor. It is an area of ​​​​over 50 m2, at least 5 floors, with a garage, an elevator and a car must go to the house (If not, what is the garage for?).

The house is too beautiful, there are some conditions that exceed our requirements, that is, there are 7 floors, the functions for each floor are clear, complete and there is a basement for 2 cars. Especially, the stairs are meticulously cared for with steps, riser of the stairs are all made of black stone and the handrails are made of green ironwood from bottom to top. It can be said that the house is so perfect that I can’t bear to hammer even a single nail into the wall to hang dozens of pictures that I brought from my old house. But one condition was missing, which later made us miserable.

Stair climbing for me is like torture!

It’s a house without an elevator!

In the early days, the whole family enthusiastically explored every corner of the house, not tired, just  happy. But it’s also tiring to climb the stair forever! Therefore, without an elevator, the house is immediately limited its functions. Almost all day after working at the office, studying at school, coming home after dinner on the 2nd floor, we consisted of 4 people divided into 2 groups about “entrenched” on the 3rd and 4th floors. The kids have their own passion: movies, video games, reading books, etc., and we talk with friends and relatives. All of them have entered the room and do not want to come out anymore because they are afraid to climb the stairs!

Meanwhile, except for the 5th floor which is the worship room, the 6th floor is the main living room and the 7th floor is a beautiful small garden with a variety of flowers and mini fruit trees. But unfortunately, our whole family rarely sets foot in these areas. Many times when we come home from work, we are tired after eating and don’t want to go upstairs anymore. So there are 3 floors of the house that are vacant, while every day, we can completely go to the living room to drink tea and watch orchids or go to the rooftop to enjoy flowers and admire the whole neighborhood…

Dream comes true!

An elevator is something we’ve been thinking about for a long time.

Many times we ask ourselves, did we buy a house for its use or just because we like the house for its aesthetics? If we bought the house just for aesthetics reason but cannot use house function, aesthetics is just a waste. Because when it comes to practical use, to climb up and down 7 floors is a torture for old people, even for young people.

I have a cousin who works at a government agency in Ha Long city – Quang Ninh. My brother’s office is located in a prime location, it is a 7-storey house with frontage overlooking Ha Long Bay. But for many years now, the world of my brother and his colleagues is often confined to small rooms, partly because of work, partly because of being blocked from view by the houses in front, partly because the way to the top floor has been closed for safety reason.

Our dream now is as simple as this.

One fine day, my brother invited me to the opening of his office’s canteen, which was located on the roof of the house.

Attending, I went from surprise to surprise. It turned out that my brother’s office had been approved by his superiors to install an elevator, which my brother and his colleagues dreamed of for more than 10 years.

It is true that the elevator opened up my brother’s office a completely different atmosphere. The people working in the building are overjoyed when every day at break they can go to the canteen to sip a cup of coffee and enjoy the panoramic view of the beautiful poetic Ha Long Bay. They don’t care about the price, the bidding contracts, the complicated procedures… The most important thing for them is that the elevator has fulfilled their dream, helping them to add an exciting sky. Many people share, only having an elevator knows how many years we have wasted, wasting the space for elevator shaft, wasting decades to enjoy the romantic space. Moreover, every day gasping for breath when climbing the stairs to the office. Until now, they were able to fully enjoy the happiness that the elevator brought. But is it a waste of money to buy an elevator, a waste of time when every day employees go to the rooftop to watch Ha Long Bay? My brother excitedly said, from the day the office had an elevator until now, maybe the working time is a little less, but the working spirit is more, the work is much more effective because the employees love and stick together with the office, more work!

It turned out that the simple joy and dream of my brother and his colleagues had been buried for decades, just because the house did not have an elevator!

Look beyond an immediate need

When I wondered about the no-elevator clause, the real estate agent explained, they brought an elevator technician from an elevator company to survey and briefly said, only need to spend about 200 million to have a house with an elevator for immediate use.

But later I realized, why is the elevator so cheap? Do you have any money from her, and if so cheap, is it safe and durable? I’ve read about elevator accidents, sometimes it’s as terrible as a traffic accident. Then my friend in the resettlement area, the old elevator broke down without replacement parts, the users were their slaves!

Go ask a qualified elevator expert, she honestly advises, when buying a house you should see if the house has a spare area to install an elevator. For now, the best option is to sell the house you live in and buy another house with an elevator. Better yet, buy land to build a house from scratch. Then freely satisfy the architectural ideas, put the elevator in any position you want in the house.

“Renovating the house to install an elevator can be done with any area and height. But there are many limitations in interior design, in harmony with the building architecture. Even very limited because when the area for the elevator is small, there are only a few elevator brands that can meet the requirements and the price is very expensive. Therefore, when you want a house with an elevator, you should buy a house with an elevator or build a house from scratch, “said my friend.

I suddenly thought of a bigger message that my friend wanted to convey, in life without foresight, it is impossible to plan things that will become useful in the future. Just like the houses, if you don’t take into account the elevator shaft (although you may not have enough conditions to install it right away), then when you are old and weak, for example,. Having enough money at that time did not solve the problem because it was not easy to renovate the house and install an elevator.

And I also look forward to a good elevator, to feel the joy of not having to struggle with hundreds of stairs every day, to climb to the top floor just to enjoy simple pleasures which is to watch and listen to the church bells ringing from the village./.
