EM - Bringing electric vehicles or pets into elevators not only causes inconvenience but also harbors many risks. In response to this situation, Sichuan Province (China) is proposing new regulations to strictly prohibit this behavior, while also establishing a hotline to handle elevator emergencies, ensuring user safety.

On July 28, 2025, the "Draft Regulations on Elevator Safety of Sichuan Province" was submitted for its first review at the meeting of the Standing Committee of the Sichuan Provincial People's Congress (China).

The meeting of the Standing Committee of the Sichuan Provincial People's Congress on July 28, 2025.

The draft regulation strictly prohibits bringing electric bicycles, electric motorcycles, or electric vehicle batteries into elevator cabins. Additionally, dogs are not permitted inside unless safety measures are taken, such as keeping them on a tight leash, wearing a muzzle, or placing them in a designated pet bag or carrier.

Sichuan Province also aims to improve its elevator emergency response service platform by establishing a dedicated support hotline 96933. This system is designed to dispatch local response units to perform elevator rescues immediately upon receiving a distress call.

Vietnam Updates: Regarding elevator rescue safety, the Vietnam Elevator Association (VNEA) recently announced that it is coordinating with local Fire Prevention, Fighting and Rescue Police (FRS) forces to establish and promote the operations of the Elevator Emergency Response Center.

The Center will serve as a rapid response force, providing technical support and on-site rescue during elevator-related incidents. The Association is also calling for the voluntary participation of enterprises within the industry to build a professional and effective support network across the country, contributing to the safety and well-being of the public.
