VEA - On October 16, 2025, at the invitation of the European Federation for Elevator Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (EFESME), the Vietnam Elevator Association attended and extended congratulations on the Federation's 20th-anniversary celebration event.

Attending the event, Mr. Nguyen Hai Duc, Chairman of the Vietnam Elevator Association (VNEA), extended his congratulations, inquiries, and presented a commemorative gift to Mr. Massimo Bezzi, President of EFESME. This gesture demonstrated the increasingly close friendship and cooperative relationship between the two organizations.

On this special occasion, Mr. Nguyen Hai Duc expressed his appreciation for EFESME's contributions to promoting the sustainable development of the European elevator industry. He also expressed hope that both sides would continue to strengthen exchanges, cooperation, and experience sharing in the future.

“The sustainable development of EFESME over the past 20 years is a great source of inspiration for elevator associations worldwide, including Vietnam. We believe that the spirit of cooperation, sharing, and orientation towards safety and sustainable development for elevator users that EFESME pursues aligns perfectly with the values VNEA is striving to implement,” shared by Mr. Nguyen Hai Duc.

The event took place within the framework of the Interlift 2025 International Elevator Exhibition—the world's largest international elevator trade fair. Representatives from elevator organizations across numerous countries, associations, businesses, and international partners attended, collectively reflecting on EFESME's 20-year journey of formation and development.

EFESME President Massimo Bezzi noted that the global elevator market is forecasted to grow at an average rate of approximately 6% annually in the coming years, with artificial intelligence (AI) emerging as a key driver. Although currently only a small percentage of European businesses apply AI, this technology is already impacting the industry's daily operations in various ways.

Mr. Massimo Bezzi emphasized that this is not a passing trend but a structural shift. It requires small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to learn how to proactively adapt and harness AI to enhance efficiency, safety, and sustainability, rather than being swept away or overwhelmed by the technology.

In this ever-changing landscape, at the European level, two important legal frameworks are expected to shape the future of the industry in the coming years: the Artificial Intelligence Act (AI Act)—adopted in 2024; and the Data Act—effective from September 2025. These aim to increase data access and usage and establish unified regulations on AI use in Europe, including specific requirements for high-risk applications such as elevators.

During this occasion, Mr. Massimo Bezzi and guests also looked back at EFESME's historical formation, from the ideas of pioneers in the mid-1990s to its official establishment in 2005 thanks to the contributions of many dedicated organizations and individuals. He also emphasized that the 20-year journey is a testament to the power of cooperation, creativity, and commitment to the common interests of European small and medium-sized elevator enterprises.

Previously, the EFESME President also attended the Vietnam Elevator Expo 2023 and spoke at the International Seminar on Sustainable Development Trends of the Future Elevator Industry in 2023, organized by the Vietnam Elevator Association.

The event at Interlift 2025 is one of five activities in the series of programs celebrating EFESME's 20th anniversary. Previously, celebrations were held in Paris (France), Madrid (Spain), and Rome (Italy), attracting the participation of numerous businesses, associations, and technical experts.

According to the plan, EFESME will conclude its commemorative activity series in Brussels (Belgium)—where the Federation is headquartered—on November 12, 2025. This will coincide with thematic seminars and discussions, marking a meaningful developmental journey and opening a new vision for small and medium-sized elevator enterprises across the continent.

The European Federation for Elevator Small and Medium-sized Enterprises – EFESME was established in 2005 with the goal of promoting, supporting, and protecting the interests of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Europe. Over two decades, EFESME has become the representative voice of SMEs, participating in the development of standards, technical policies, and safety regulations in the industry.

Beyond technical standards, EFESME, along with its members and experts, also carries out support activities for SMEs in other areas, such as training programs; support for digitization and cybersecurity in elevator systems; and a commitment to continuously developing SME-friendly standards and regulations.

EFESME members include federations, associations, and enterprises operating in the elevator, escalator, and auxiliary sectors in Europe, such as: Associazione Nazionale delle Imprese di Costruzione e Manutenzione Ascensori (ANACAM), Verband Deutscher Maschinen und Anlagenbau (VDMA), Association Addictions France (ANPAA), Confartigianato Imprese, Grupnor, Lift-S Egyesület, etc.
