A JOURNEY TO EXPLORE JAPANESE CULTURAL VALUES THROUGH DESIGN & MATERIALS
Centered on the theme “Japanese Culture,” the event will inspire fresh perspectives and foster design thinking rooted in core principles that the Japanese have preserved for thousands of years—serving as guiding beacons for creating refined structures and products of exceptional quality.
These principles include:
Shizen (自然 – Nature) – honoring the harmonious relationship between humans and their living environment through the refined selection of natural materials, rustic structures, and a sense of closeness.
Kanso (簡素 – Simplicity) – The art of purposeful simplification, elevating the functionality of each design – not eliminating to create emptiness, but retaining only what is truly essential.
Ma (間 – Interval) – The necessary pause that allows space to breathe. It exists between two elements – light and shadow, matter and void – fostering balance, slowness, and depth.
These values will not only be showcased through displays of designs and materials over the three-day event but will also be interpreted and analyzed by Japanese architects, designers, and experts themselves, offering practical insights that blend longstanding cultural foundations with applications in the Vietnamese market.
