DOMESTIC NEWS

1. Hanoi: Rescue of a person trapped in an elevator on the 7th floor

Recently, the Fire Prevention, Fighting and Rescue Team, Region No. 14 – under the Fire Prevention and Fighting and Rescue Police Division, Hanoi City Police, received a report of an elevator incident at a residential building at No. 2, Alley 81, Au Co Street, Quang An Ward, Tay Ho District.

At the scene, through reconnaissance, the authorities determined that the malfunctioning elevator was stopped at the 7th floor area, with one victim inside.

Assessing the urgent situation, the rescue command quickly conferred and devised the most optimal approach and rescue plan.

Officers and soldiers quickly deployed their formation, using hydraulic spreaders in combination with specialized equipment to gain access, create a gap, and open the elevator cabin door.

About 15 minutes later, the Fire Prevention and Fighting and Rescue Police successfully opened the cabin door and brought the victim out safely.

1. Sweden: Elevator forum focuses on sustainable modernization

Elevator Forum 2026 in Stockholm will focus on sustainable elevator modernization, including ISO standards, energy efficiency, component availability, and maintaining equipment readiness.

The program is co-organized by component and control companies such as ALGI, CEDES, Meiller, New Lift, Schaefer, and Ziehl-Abegg. 

2. ISO/FDIS 8104-1 standard enters final approval stage

The draft international standard ISO/FDIS 8104-1 has entered the final approval stage, with a voting period expected to last eight weeks.

The standard provides a methodology for risk analysis and prioritization when modernizing and improving the safety level of existing passenger elevators and passenger elevators with goods.

The goal is to bring existing equipment closer to the safety level of newly installed elevators. The content is significant for risk assessment, modernization planning, and resource allocation for old elevator renovation.
