1. Hanoi: Rescue of person trapped in elevator

According to information from the Hanoi City Police, at approximately 15:12 on September 30, 2026, a 6-story mini apartment building at Lot S5-18 Trieu Khuc, Thanh Liet Ward, experienced an elevator incident that left one person trapped inside.

Immediately upon receiving the news, the Command Information Center dispatched forces and vehicles from the Firefighting and Rescue Team of Area 4, the Police Department for Fire Prevention, Fighting and Rescue, who quickly arrived at the scene.

En route, officers and soldiers maintained communication and reassured the trapped person to stay calm and maintain composure.

After approximately 10 minutes, the trapped person was brought out safely with stable health conditions. The preliminary cause was identified as a technical fault in the elevator.

1. China: Beijing sets target to assess safety of 40,000 elevators in old apartment buildings

The Beijing Municipal Market Supervision Administration issued the Market Supervision Modernization Plan for the 2026–2030 period, including the safety assessment of 40,000 elevators in old apartment buildings as a mandatory target.

The plan also requires strengthening the management of special equipment through digital technology, using a unified code to link information on people, equipment, operations, and the environment; connecting the stages of responsibility, risk, inspection, and supervision.

At the same time, it calls for enhanced handling and monitoring of the remediation of risks that could cause serious accidents, and improving the capacity for equipment safety inspection and certification.

2. Otis makes Forbes World's Best Employers list for the fifth consecutive year

Schindler Group announced the appointment of Dr. André Becker as Chief Human Resources Officer and member of the Group Executive Committee effective January 1, 2027.
