EM – On March 27, 2024, the National Agency for Science and Technology Information under the Ministry of Science and Technology granted the International Standard Serial Number (ISSN) to Elevator Magazine for both its print and electronic publications. This officially marks the “ID card” of Elevator Magazine in the global information community.

The Vietnam Elevator Association announces the Elevator Industry Base Standard

EM - On the morning of March 27, 2024, in Hanoi, the Vietnam Elevator Association officially announced the first Base Standard of the Elevator Industry. This standard establishes the fundamental safety requirements, use, maintenance, and repair of elevators.

Setting the industry’s base standards: General safety requirements for elevator management, usage, maintainance, and repair

TCTM – Setting the industry’s base standards is necessary and imperative, as such, Vietnam Elevator Association (VNEA) have been constructing a set of industry standards based on national standards (TCVN). In the short term, the base standards (TCCS) for elevators will be focusing on safety requirements in the manufacture and installation, as well as the in usage, operation, maintenance and repair. The industry’s standards should have TCVN as a base and complement it with national cultural particularities and technological trends.

EM – Thanks to the process of urbanization and the tendency of development in the vertical direction, the number of elevators, escalators in the worldwide has increased significantly across countries, regions. This development has also led to concerns regarding the safety of the old elevator system, which has been in operation for many years.

Unpredictable danger from dumbwaiters

EM – On May 22nd, a restaurant’s dumbwaiter fell on a woman’s head, causing her serious injury. Previously, on March 13th, an incident also occurred where a kindergarten staff member fell to her death into the pit of a dumbwaiter elevator. Thus, there certainly needs to be more drastic intervention and attention towards the unforeseeable dangers caused by dumbwaiters.
