REGULATION – POLICY

VNEA proposes recognition of international conformity assessment bodies
EM - In an effort to ease difficulties faced by businesses following the issuance of Circular No. 13/2024/TT-BLDTBXH, which revokes the acceptance of test results from foreign laboratories, the Vietnam Elevator Association (VNEA) has submitted an official dispatch to the Ministry of Home Affairs and the Department of Employment, proposing the consideration and recognition of conformity assessment results, along with a compiled list of proposed internationally recognized certification/testing bodies.

Elevator prices may increase by 63 million VND due to Circular No. 13 and Decision No. 496 issued by the Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs
EM - The new regulation abolishing the recognition of elevator test results from abroad, which takes effect from 1st February, 2025, is putting businesses in a difficult position, as each elevator unit is expected to bear an additional testing cost of at least 63 million VND (2,419 USD, 1 USD = 26.037 VND). Furthermore, the test results are only valid for each shipment and cannot be applied on a mass scale or for a set duration.
