The Pacific Asia Lifts and Elevators Association The Pacific Asia Lifts and Elevators Association – PALEA was founded in February 1998 in Singapore to unify the area’s rules and standards for the elevator industry. Through this, the Association aims to minimize the negative effects caused by the discrepancies and differences in elevator and escalator safety, design, manufacture, and assembly requirements between countries.
Unifying the suitability assessment process for elevator and escalator products in the area also helps decrease the demand for a reassessment of these products, thereby increasing efficiency, reducing cost and time, and maximizing profit for the elevator industry’s community.
PALEA comprises of organizations and enterprises from 13 countries and territories in Pacific Asia, including Australia, China, Hong Kong, India, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Singapore, Siri Lanka, Taiwan, Thailand, Indonesia, and Viet Nam.
Amongst these organizations and enterprises are the state agencies in Pacific Asia, as well as elevator, technology, and supporting enterprises, such as KoELSA (Korean Elevator Safety Agency), LECA (Hong Kong Lift and Escalator Contractors Association), BCA (Singapore Building and Construction Authority), Schindler, Otis, Kone, Fujitec, Mitsubishi, Hitachi, Wittur,…
