EM – Regarding the case of website baothangmay.com copying, modifying without permission, citing sources of many articles from Elevator Magazine, the press management agencies and functional forces have investigated and handled the violation appropriately.
As we have informed in the article “The elevator is still fake, let alone… the elevator!“, baothangmay.com is a website with a journalistic domain name but actually not licensed to operate, copied unauthorized many works from Elevator Magazine. This is a serious violation of the Intellectual Property Law and the Press Law. The Vietnam Elevator Association (the governing body of Elevator Magazine) has officially sent a dispatch to the relevant authorities requesting clarification of the above incident.

After receiving the complaint, the Press Department sent an official dispatch to the Department of Radio, Television and Electronic Information, the Ministry of Information and Communications (TT & TT) to propose to consider and handle if violations are detected. In parallel, the Cyber Security and High-Tech Crime Prevention and Control Department (PA05)- CATP Hanoi worked with the Vietnam Elevator Association to cooperate in investigating cases of violations of regulations on copyright of Elevator Magazine.
The functional force has collected enough evidence of violations of the website baothangmay.com, requested to remove this website (removed on April 1st, 2022). At the same time, conduct propaganda and education on legal knowledge for Mr. T – the person responsible for the website baothangmay.com to understand so as not to recur. Authorities are also completing the process to issue sanctions in accordance with the law.
On April 12th, 2022, Mr. T – the person responsible for managing the content of the website baothangmay.com went to the headquarters of the Vietnam Elevator Association, Elevator Magazine to directly apologize and learn from experience. Mr. T said that due to limited awareness of the law, he did not know that he had violated the law. This person also shared that having worked for Hoa Hoa Elevator Joint Stock Company, so he had knowledge about elevators, Mr. T wanted to set up a website baothangmay.com just for personal purposes of sharing knowledge about elevators. elevator (?!)
The authorities are working to clarify, besides Mr. T, is there any other organization behind this incident or not.
The website baothangmay.com has been removed

According to Article 5, Decree 119/2020 ND-CP stipulating administrative sanctions in press activities and publishing activities, it is stipulated that: A fine ranging from VND 140,000,000 to VND 200,000,000 shall be imposed for operating activities. Printed newspapers, printed magazines, audio newspapers, visual newspapers, electronic newspapers, and electronic magazines do not have press operation licenses.
Article 13 of this Decree also stipulates a fine ranging from VND 20,000,000 to VND 40,000,000 for press products of journalistic nature that are not allowed to be circulated.
