On the afternoon of December 6, 2024, during the Vietnam Elevator Expo 2024, the Vietnam Elevator Association (VNEA) officially introduced the Elevator Industry Manufacturer Standard of the sector part 2: TCCS 02:2024/VNEA – Labor Norms in Elevator Maintenance and Repair.

According to Mr. Nguyen Huy Tien, General Secretary of VNEA, labor norms can be understood simply as defining the number of workers required to complete a task, along with their skill and experience requirements and the average time needed to complete it. He emphasized that labor norms are a core factor in optimizing resources and improving service quality.

However, Mr. Nguyen Huy Tien also stated that the absence of a unified legal standard in recent times has caused significant difficulties for service providers, regulatory agencies, and workers alike.

“For management, the lack of a common standard for labor norms makes budgeting for maintenance and repairs inaccurate, especially in projects using state funds. Meanwhile, service providers face challenges in recruitment, salary standards, and building suitable human resource structures. Workers are confronted with a uniform income level that lacks transparency and fairness,” emphasized the General Secretary of VNEA.

In response to this urgent need, VNEA has directed the Vietnam Institute of Lift Engineering Application (VILEA) to research and develop TCCS 02:2024/VNEA, which aims to standardize labor norms in elevator maintenance and repair.

The TCCS 02:2024/VNEA standard focuses on workers in the elevator industry, including operational staff and maintenance personnel at buildings or service units. This group plays a crucial role as a bridge between maintenance units and customers.

The main contents of TCCS 02:2024/VNEA include: Time norms; Work norms; Required personnel quantity; and Personnel quality requirements (skill levels).

The event attracted the attention of many elevator companies as well as students from vocational schools.

This standard not only serves as a guideline for service companies in recruitment, salary setting, and human resource management but also acts as a tool for owners and management units to plan budgets and oversee operations.

“TCCS 02:2024/VNEA not only lays the foundation for standardizing elevator services but also contributes to improving service quality—something that both businesses, owners, and users expect,” affirmed Mr. Nguyen Huy Tien.

Alongside the introduction of TCCS 02:2024/VNEA, the Vietnam Elevator Association also announced the Elevator Technician Training Program in collaboration with the Korea Elevator University and Ha Noi Vocational College of High Technology (HHT). This is a long-term effort to provide high-quality human resources that meet international standards for the Vietnamese elevator industry.

In addition to the contents of the TCCS 02:2024/VNEA, VNEA representatives also introduced the Technician Training Program developed in cooperation with the Korea Elevator University and Ha Noi Vocational College of High Technology.

Additionally, during the Elevator Edu program, representatives from Puretronics (India) shared solutions to enhance elevator safety.

Moreover, on December 6, various other activities took place as part of the Vietnam Elevator Expo 2024, including the International Workshop “Elevators, Art, and Architecture”; the workshop “Keeping you safe everyday”; and the Bizlink 1-1 business networking event, etc.

The Vietnam Elevator Expo 2024 features a large scale and total exhibition area, part of the Vietnam Expo, with a display area of nearly 40,000 m². The exhibition is open for free from 9 AM to 5 PM from December 5 to December 7, 2024, with an expected attendance of around 15,000 visitors.

The Vietnam Elevator Expo 2024 continues to attract many visitors on the second day of the exhibition.

This year’s Vietnam Elevator Expo has the participation of over 100 companies operating in the elevator sector, both domestically and internationally, gathered in 120 booths, within a total of 1,200 booths at the Vietnam Expo.

The Vietnam Elevator Expo 2024 affirms its role as the most prestigious and professional annual event for the elevator, escalator, and auxiliary industries in Vietnam. It is also the only elevator exhibition in Vietnam organized in collaboration between the Vietnam Elevator Association (VNEA) and VINEXAD Advertising and Trade Fair Joint Stock Company, Ministry of Industry and Trade.
