EM – On the morning of April 13th, in Nha Trang city, Khanh Hoa province, the Vietnam Journalists Association held a national conference summarizing activities in 2022 and implementing the association’s work in 2023. Deputy Prime Minister Mr. Tran Hong Ha attended and delivered a commanding speech.
Attending and speaking at the conference were Mr. Tran Hong Ha, Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Prime Minister; Mr. Le Quoc Minh, Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda Department, Chairman of Vietnam Journalists Association, Editor-in-Chief of People Newspaper. The conference also had nearly 700 official delegates who are leaders of the Vietnam Journalists Association, local journalists’ associations, and affiliates of journalists’ associations.
Speaking at the conference, Deputy Prime Minister Mr. Tran Hong Ha highly appreciated the contributions of the Vietnam Journalists Association at all levels from the Central Government to the locality in gathering, uniting, fostering, and raising political awareness, professional qualifications and professional ethics for journalists.

In the coming time, associations at all levels need to orient press agencies to closely follow the reality of the country’s renovation and development, current issues; deeply and vividly reflect life so that there are many high-quality, combative journalistic works with deep and true human values, touching the emotions of the audience, from which orients public opinion, creates social consensus, and constantly strengthens the people’s faith in the Party and Government.
Speaking at the opening of the Conference, Mr. Le Quoc Minh said that digital transformation has been an inevitable trend taking place strongly in most socio-economic fields today. As a field that responds sensitively to all changes in socio-economic life, the press and media need to take the lead in the national digital transformation. Digital transformation is the inevitable path of all press agencies, if they do not want to be “removed”, they need to actively innovate the method of transmission and bring new experiences to readers through digital technology application, cooperate with other media agencies to create a foothold and position in the technology journalism village.
In this context, the Vietnam Journalists Association as a political – social – professional organization of journalists needs more innovation in the Association’s work and other core activities, to unite and develop with modern journalism.

At the Conference, the delegates summarized and re-evaluated the activities of the Vietnam Journalists Association in 2022 and the first 3 months of 2023; praising and rewarding advanced examples and new factors in the activities of the Vietnam Journalists Association at all levels; raising awareness and capacity of associations at all levels in managing and directing the press and association activities; guide associations at all levels to support high-quality journalism in 2023; Thematic exhibition on 80 years of Vietnamese cultural outline…
Through the Conference, associations at all levels discussed, agreed, learned and proposed practical solutions to well implement Directive No. 43 of the Secretariat; Law on Press and National Press Development and Management Planning to 2025; living guidelines for members who are local correspondents, 10 articles of regulations on professional ethics of Vietnamese journalists, rules for using social networks by Vietnamese journalists, set of agency criteria cultural journalism and the culture of journalists.

The conference also thoroughly grasped the practical requirements for journalism innovation, shared development orientations and strategies, especially digital transformation in journalism activities; agreed on an action plan towards the 100th anniversary of Vietnam’s revolutionary journalism (June 21, 1925 – June 21, 2025).

Following the activities of the National Conference, on the afternoon of April 13th, the Vietnam Journalists Association will organize a conference on collection and reward and a conference on preliminary review of high-quality press support 2022 – guiding the development declare support for high-quality journalism 2023.
Previously, on the afternoon of April 12, Deputy Prime Minister Mr. Tran Hong Ha signed Decision No. 375/QD-TTg approving the Charter of the Vietnam Journalists Association. The Charter includes 10 chapters, 36 articles, covering all contents related to membership activities, tasks, structure, conditions, standards, etc.
