EM – Recently, Elevator Magazine received a complaint from Mr. Hoang Duc Hung, Secretary of the residential group No. 28 – 29, Den Lu urban area, Hoang Van Thu ward, Hoang Mai district, Hanoi. Mr. Hung said people continued to complaint about the serious deterioration of the elevators at house G in the resettlement apartment complex located in the area.
Mr. Chu Van Huan, 69 years old, special war invalids ¼ and his wife, Hoang Thi Hoat, 61 years old, living on the 11th floor, the highest floor of the Den Lu resettlement apartment complex, told reporters of Elevator Magazine of his suffering throughout the years. As a seriously wounded soldier, Mr. Huan had to go downstairs every week to check his health and get medicine at the hospital. Not to mention other essential needs.
But for a few years now, when the 2 apartment units he lived in had 4 elevators, 2 has failed, the other 2 also continuously “down “, making him and many households living in the apartment extremely difficult in running up and down.
The couple disabled veteran Chu Van Huan – Hoang Thi Hoat sharing with Elevator Magazine
“After reading the articles of Elevator Magazine, we are very excited because we think the elevators of the apartment building will be repaired and replaced so that residents can travel less. But over the past 1 year since the articles reported on the status of the elevator in our apartment, only one time the district inspection team came down to check and ask questions, but since then, they have not had any plan to repair or do anything, while the elevator is constantly broken, we have to pay for the repair ourselves.” Disabled veteran Chu Van Huan raised his hand to wipe the tears from his sad face after saying this.
Mrs. Hoat, Mr. Huan’s wife, said that for a few months now, the elevator has broken 2 buttons to call the 4th and 11th floors, anyone who wants to go to these two floors must go to the 5th or 10th floor and then go to the 4th and 11th floor.
“Every time I go from the 10th floor to the 11th floor, because the wheelchair is too heavy, I have to ask someone to carry both the wheelchair and my husband upstairs. But there are times when no one is there, I have to carry my grandfather up, both hard and dangerous. Yesterday, people quoted the repair price of 2 floor call buttons up to 7 million VND. Some families objected because they thought the repair price was too high, so until now, traveling on the 4th and 11th floors by elevator has been almost paralyzed, “said Hoat.
Ms. Do Thi Minh, Deputy Secretary of the residential cell No. 28-29, deputy head of the Front Work Department of Hoang Van Thu Ward, said that after reading articles saying that using an unqualified elevator would be dangerous, the residents of the G family are very scared, but the elevator of this apartment complex is not inspected at all. This situation has also been going on for many years, no one has checked and urged, including the management of the apartment complex.
The people of the G family in the Den Lu resettlement area expect that the elevator will be repaired and replaced every day to reduce suffering.
And Mrs. Ngo Thi Hoa, 72-year-old resident, living on the 10th floor of G house, has another suffering. Every day, she had to take her child to the kindergarten, on the day the elevator was broken, she had to carry him 10 flights of stairs down to the kindergarten. But going down is relatively easy, but going up 10 floors is a torture for her. So she also chose to go through the rooftop water tank to get a lift from the unit next door…
It is difficult to say all the hardships of the people of 2 units of house G in the resettlement apartment complex of Den Lu, Hoang Mai, Hanoi when they had to move 10-11 floors when the elevator broke down. But more dangerously, for many years now, they have to face dangers every day, indirectly violating safety regulations when using untested elevators.
In meetings with relevant agencies at the end of 2021, those responsible said that they had fully reported to their superiors and… were waiting for approval of the policy, funding for repair and replacement of the cars. Broken, outdated elevators in 2 units of house G, Den Lu resettlement apartment complex…
But a year has passed, more than 100 households of G house in Den Lu resettlement apartment complex wondered how long they have to wait. Their lives are threatened every day when they have to use elevators that are not qualified to operate. Do the people in charge in Hanoi know?
And that is just the situation of 2 resettlement apartment units of Hoang Mai district, Hanoi. How many other resettlement apartments and social houses have similar degraded status? What immediate and long-term solutions do relevant agencies have to solve this situation?
